Instructions for Authors
1. Scope
RandPunkt Journal publishes original research articles, short notes, and review articles in all areas of mathematics. The journal is published monthly and is completely free of charge for both authors and readers (no APC).
2. Language
Manuscripts are accepted for review in Spanish and English. However, all accepted articles are published in English, regardless of the language in which they were originally submitted.
Authors writing in Spanish will receive, at no cost to them, professional proofreading and translation into English before publication. The translated version will be shared with the corresponding author for final approval prior to publication.
3. Manuscript Format
We accept manuscripts prepared in both LaTeX and
Microsoft Word (.docx). Authors using
LaTeX must use our official template (see section 4).
The article must include a title, abstract, keywords, MSC
classification, and bibliographic references.
4. LaTeX Template
Authors using LaTeX must use our official template, which ensures that the manuscript follows the journal's style:
⬇ Download the RandPunkt LaTeX Template (.zip)
The ZIP contains the class file (randpunkt.cls), a sample
manuscript (main.tex), a sample bibliography
(referencias.bib), and compilation instructions.
Important: Please do not modify the
randpunkt.cls file. If you need an additional command or
a specific adjustment, contact the Editor-in-Chief at
polanco@unam.mx before making
any changes.
5. Files to Submit
When submitting your manuscript, you will need to provide the following files:
1. Manuscript PDF (required)
The compiled PDF of your manuscript. This is the version that will be sent to reviewers and, if accepted, published. Please make sure it is the final, ready-for-review version.
2. Supplementary Materials ZIP (required)
A single ZIP file containing everything needed to reproduce your manuscript:
-
If your manuscript was prepared in LaTeX: the
.texfile, the.bibfile, and all figures as separate files. Authors using LaTeX must use our official template (see section 4). Do not modify the.clsfile. Since the class file is part of the journal's official template, it does not need to be included in the ZIP. -
If your manuscript was prepared in Microsoft Word:
the
.docxfile with all figures embedded in their proper places within the text.
The ZIP will be renamed automatically as
SupplementaryMaterials_RP-YYYY-NNNN.zip once your
submission is processed.
6. Review Process
All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors will receive a decision letter with the editorial decision and, where applicable, suggestions for improvement.
7. Publication Ethics
RandPunkt Journal is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are required to:
- Submit original work that has not been published elsewhere.
- Declare any conflicts of interest.
- Declare any use of generative AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript. AI tools must not be listed as authors.
- Ensure that all co-authors have approved the submission.
Our full Publication Ethics policy is available at /ethics.
8. Copyright and License
Authors retain the copyright of their works. By publishing in RandPunkt Journal, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the article and deposit it in open access repositories such as Zenodo. Articles are published under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license.
9. Deposit and DOI
Each accepted article receives a permanent DOI through Zenodo, which guarantees its citability and long-term preservation. Authors are encouraged to also deposit the preprint in arXiv before submission.
10. Fees
RandPunkt Journal charges no fees for submission, review, proofreading, translation, or publication (no APC). It is a completely free journal.
11. Contact
For questions about the submission process, please contact the Editor-in-Chief at polanco@unam.mx, or use our contact form.
